*OMGs, I felt so bad. Coming home, I noticed a grasshopped in Toby’s water. As I rescued it, it jumped out of my hand and onto the walkway. Toby saw it and gobbled it right up! Poor grasshopper. It was simply destined to die today.

Call into Johnson’s Garden Center https://www.johnsonsgarden.com/johnson-s-west-13th. He gave me some excellent recommendations for backyard bushes; arborvitae for her, elderberries for me. He also invited me to come out to investigate further.

Trip out to my WONDERFUL niece’s with pics of mother/father, grandma/grandpa Reimer, grandma/grandpa Schmidt, entrusting them to her care so her boys, my WONDERFUL great-nephews, never forget the strong German heritage on their mother’s side.

On the way back I passed a good neighbor whose daughter had a lemonade stand along McCormick. Oh, what the hela, I had a buck in my wallet…sure…why not? It was a good neighborly thing to do to honor a possible future entrepreneur. I did the same thing when I was a kid, but mine was a dime a cup. Cost of inflation, eh? During the visit, I was told of an old man who dropped of $10 without buying any lemonade. I told the little girl, “Learn a business lesson. In business, NO ONE gives or gets something for nothing. There’s a cost for everything. That old man was stupid.” Her daddy appreciated me telling her that.
