Did I just get 8-hours of uninterrupted sleep? Uninterrupted yes, but for Essie climbing onto me at least three times overnight. When Toby demands attention, I have to get out of bed. When Essie demands attention, I just reach over to give her a scratch on the head.

A sixteenth I speak if a maid is reluctant,
To wake her lust and desire;
I change the heart of the delightful woman,
Then to me her wishes turn.

Essie is probably back to 95% healthy. She’s eating better and acting more like a healthy kitty. This morning, she wanted to go outside, so I conceded. After a bit of time in the back yard, I opened the door to find her enticed by something at the fence. Watching her for a bit, until she was disinterested in whatever had her attention, I called her from the back porch. Usually, SHE WOULD COME A-RUNNNING! This time, sauntered all the way back inside. Running v. walking tells me she’s not quite there, yet.

News said last night and this morning that thunderstorm won’t come until late afternoon. Thunder and a bit of rain started before 09:00. It was a mad dash to unhook and put away the electric mower.

During the lull in the rain, family outside time, but Socks just wasn’t interested staying out from his house. He was quickly ready to go back inside.

Ya know, I meant to go to Mother’s grave. Perhaps it was the rain…dunno. I guess I haven’t felt the pressing need as I visit with her every Monday morning for ancestor veneration. I don’t think I have much of a personal need until Memorial weekend.

Storm are firing up now. So far they’re outside Wichita and to the north.

I didn’t give Socks a choice. I called him home, he came, I scooped him up and placed him in his house. At least now I know he’s under shelter.
