Rune Lesson: Same Rune, different systems.
Since we have no need of a savior, honor is one of those things that drives many Heathens. It’s one of the Nine Noble Virtues that we celebrate on the 12 Days of Yule: “5th Day of Yule – Remembering the Noble Virtue of Honor
The Noble Virtue of Honor is the ability to hold your head high in all situations. It’s the adherence to what is right or to a conventional standard of conduct. To live an honorable life is the most valuable of goals. We set standards for ourselves and live according to those standards. We are not encouraged to set low standards, rather, set high standards and work toward them continually, even behind closed doors (C.Reimer/V.Elmersson).
IMO, Ziu is also the enforcer of the law. However, as we see this same Rune and same god representation, we also see it playing out in a rebirth as it’s described in the Havamal. As Ziu enforces the law with honor, so Ziu is born again thru his sacrifice.
