Rune Lesson: Hagalaz is both dangerous and beneficial. Thorn is both dangerous and beneficial. Hagalaz has the potential to destroy and feed. Thorn can deflect and threaten. Both Runes are problematic. Which is to say, life brings both the bitter and the sweet. We have to be ready to deal with both. Not all that is bad is really bad. Not all that is beneficial is totally beneficial. This Rune combination is a realistic view of life.

I understand that to a point, but to take the series in its totality, it shows how much control Anastasia, as a submissive, has in the relationship. The dominant, Christian Grey, eventually comes to his semses BECAUSE of what Anastasia brings to the relationship. I like this series A LOT!
