Havamal 163.
An eighteenth I learned, yet I would never
Let a woman or maid know it,
For everyone knows what’s best for himself-
This leads me to the conclusion of the songs-
The one it shall be then, that lies in my arms
As betrothed wife and as sister.
The scald, awakening, comprehension of the diving from below upward; from humanity outward, secrecy, gift/giver, gift of life, that which is best for the individual, fulfillment, sacred marriage, being ONE with the sister soul, protection against evil forces, being/seeing the Divine, the cosmic consciousness and the divine principle, two forces having a singular origin, the spiritual ego, death-life cycle, protection against evil forces, union of the gods and the World, the uninterrupted chain in the cycle of eternal returns, the Creator and the Created, the deepest mysteries of the Universe.
“Man, be one with God” (List, 67).

Interpretation: Good luck (Pertho) leads to the Divine (Gibor).
*FUCKING WOW! An EXCELLENT Rune reading to start the year.
<>
Outcome: Serious frost out this morning!

Toby and I out for to Meeka Park plus 3/5 of a mile. He was sluggish in responding to voice commands so he spent the last 2/5 of the walk on the retractable. He wasn't happy.
<>
Unannounced visit from bruzzer. His phone had been shut off and he needed to use my phone.

EXCELLENT time at my niece's for NEW YEAR'S CHOP-SUEY! I'm so full of good luck now! I am SO GLAD I've learned how to “deflect” her OTHER uncle's Republican remarks. It makes for a much more pleasant, less stressful environment.
*I wasn't expecting my nephew and his family showing up...a nice surprise.
*WHEW! No political conversation with the redder-than-red brother-in-law; I guess one might call him. He honestly is basically a really good guy until he starts his political BS.
*LOVE them all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*Mamma Wenke, now deceased, started this tradition A LONG time ago as a replacement for black-eyed peas, because no one in her family seemed to like black-eyed peas. So, New Year's Chop Suey was born. Since her death, my sister-in-law has carried on this tradition. I'm honored to participate in it ever year.

Disconnected Yule lights from their electrical source. All decorations to probably be taken down tomorrow.
Cleaned up firecracker remnants from last night's festivities.
<>
Arranged payment of a couple of bills. It's exciting to see them coming down. Dare I attribute this to my replacement windows?
<>
I WAS considering taking someone to the upcoming Barry Manilow concert. HOLY SHIT! Tickets just up from floor level, $365 and $385. Nosebleed tickets, $40-$155. When the Intrust Bank arena had it's open house, I went up to the nose-bleed area. It's pretty damned steep up there. JsFnChst it was like I couldn't stand up without the feeling like I was going to fall forward. No thank you.
*pffffffft!

**See, most times when I look up Saxon, there seems to be a reference to Anglo-Saxon. Very rarely is there solely a reference to Saxon. The difference is, Saxon is Northern German, Anglo-Saxon is English. IMO, Anglo-Saxon is the result of German invasion of the Angles, Saxons and Jutes in England after the fall of Rome. Anglo-Saxons did not exist prior to that. Anglo-Saxons are the English amalgamation of the German tribes of the Angles and the Saxons. The sole reference to Anglo-Saxons like they are something wonderful, without a reference from whence they originated, irradiates me. Perhaps, on the one hand, it comes down to our love affair with things English. I, on the other hand, have a love affair with things German; hence, admitting my bias. All that to say, I LOVE the Saxon reference in these books. A dangerous assumption is, he has SOME kind of authority to write on this subject.
*As my ancestry comes from Northern Germany, I fully believe, confirmed by my friend in Kiel, Germany, there is a Saxon connection to my heritage.
