With the serious cold coming, I decided to open the window in the kitchen leading into the hallway (thank you JA) to create a better warm air flow. There has been a makeshift covering over the exhaust portion of the unused heater. For safety's sake, due t the close proximity of the covering to the space heater, I removed the covering. Jasmine quickly jumped up into it to check it out. Strong heater in the living room, space heater in the hallway, and a strong heater in the master bedroom should do the trick...I hope.
