11th Day of Yule – Remembering the Noble Virtue of Perseverance
The Noble Virtue of perseverance requires us to meet difficulties head-on. Life is filled with personal challenges. We struggle on a daily basis with various forces around us. Sometimes we may ask ourselves, is it really worth it? Perseverance is the determined, continual action in the face of adversity. If you give up, it’s game-over. It really is simple, isn’t it? No matter what you are doing, no matter the challenge, see it to its conclusion. Even if you try and fail, realize that the only real failure is not trying. Failure is evidence that someone has tried. Success is failure defeated (C.Reimer/V.Elmersson).

Havamal 71
The lame man rides the horse, the handless man drives the herds,
The deaf man fights and succeeds,
To be blind is better than to be burnt;
A corpse is of no use to anyone (The Poetic Edda, Larrington pg. 23).

I had a telephone conversation with Dr. G at the El Paso Animal Hospital about Toby’s diabetic ketoacidosis attack and it was very enlightening.
Q; How did this happen?
A:  His immune system was attacked through his pancreas.
*This was extremely enlightening because it wasn’t that long-ago Toby was treated for pancreatitis.

Q: Is there a need for dietary change?
A: No

Q (more like an informative statement): I told her about the cost difference between OTC insulin ($177) and Rx insulin ($28).
A: Thank you for letting me know I should always write a script.
*I thanked HER for saving Toby’s life.

Call in from the VA with the results of the CT scan; yep, in need of an E.N.T.  Consult to be granted.

Toby and I out for a well behaved, seemingly healthy, late morning/noon hour, 30min walk.
*partly cloudy, cold, stout NNW wind.

I took the inside burgeoning collection recyclables to outside separation.
*OMGs!  Wile tending to the recyclables, I didn’t shut the back door well enough and Lily got out for the first time since last Jan 1.  I started hearing a kitty crying, and it was Lily trying to get back inside…LOLOLOL

Online chat with a Sling TV agent.  I got an email that said Sling Orange, which is my current subscription. and Sling Blue are now both going to be $30; my initial Sling TV Orange subscription was $20.  There are channel tradeoffs between Orange and Blue for the same $30.  For Sling Orange and Sling Blue combined, it’s $45.  Nah, I think I’m good, and don’t watch that much TV anyway.

Pizza from frozen and a fresh garden salad for a late lunch.

My Nag Champa incense arrived today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cleaned house to presentable standards, but that vacuum is giving me fits.

I have never tried to cook pork chops on the griddle atop my stove.  After a bit of research, adding my own style, and no fear of failure; WAH-LAH!  DAMN that was good!
<>
A trip to the garden shed for my wood-burner.
Just a wee bit of Rune work.  Two Armanen Runes from my set needed to be replaced for some time; Fehu and Gibor.  In the initial, I mistakenly paid close attention to Gorsleben and Welz https://www.runemagick.com/gorsleben.html; however, even they have strayed from Master Guido von List https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guido_von_List.  I went back to the original work by List to find the faux pas of Gorsleben and Welz.  While I doubt I will eve do a reversed Rune as indicated by the Master, I will stick as closely to him as I can, every chance I get.

God/dess Meditation: (alternate Manostag) Nirdu, brother-husband, to Nirda, parents of the Wanâ; Ing-Frô and the Frouwa, beloved god of harbors and seas close to land; help us to remember the cargoes of wealth that float to our doors daily from the wonderful Universe in which we live. Though our misfortunes may rise and fall like the tides, the chance of prosperity, like the eternal sea brimming with fish, is still there. Like the salt-sea spray, awaken us to the possibilities that surround us, so that our nets may be cast wide and return full of life’s gifts. WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, NIRDU, as we honor the Nirdu that resides in us all!

HEIL!  HEIL! HEIL!
