The Noble Virtue of hospitality represents a special relationship between an invited guest and host, where the host provides the guest with necessary goodwill. Welcome those into your house and your life as you can. In today’s world, we cannot trust everyone with whom we come in contact; however, we can exercise caution and be as welcoming as possible. When anyone is welcomed into your home ensure they want for nothing. Lavish upon them food, drink and comfort. Equally, be a proper & respectful guest when welcomed (C.Reimer/V.Elmersson).
Havamal 3
Fire is needful for someone who’s come in,
where is he going to sit?
Food and clothing are necessary for the man
Who’s journeyed over the mountains (The Poetic Edda, Larrington 14).
Rules for being a modern and proper house guest:
- Be clear about your arrival and departure dates.
- Bring a gift
- Ask about house rules.
- Conserve towels and linens.
- Always offer to help.
- Bring your own toiletries (if possible).
- Respect common areas.
- Keep the guest room tidy.
- Leave the house as neat as possible.
- Leave a gift and a thank-you note.
RAISE YOUR HORN! TIP YOUR GLASS! GIVE HAIL TO THE NOBLE VIRTUE OF HOSPITALITY!

An eighth is mine, to all the Folk

This I can settle fast.

Rune Lesson: With Uruz we know we have a solid foundation. We can use that solid foundation to end any suffering. Our vital strength tells us HOW we can understand our suffering and successfully deal with it. Any distress is short-lived BECAUSE we can take action to squelch it.

Call in from the Emergency Hospital @ 7am. It seems there are two Toby’s there and they thought I was in the parking lot waiting. They did, however, tell me that MY Toby is doing better. He is eating a bit more, drinking sufficiently and peeing A LOT! Things ARE looking better for Toby, they just couldn’t say if he was ready to come home. I am fully convinced that Toby realizes the doctors and staff are there to help him and he is not afraid of them. As a matter of fact, they LOVE him!

Ing-Frô/An: Frey, you’re the Great God of Fridu (all-encompassing safety and protection), Ar (peace, good seasons), the good harvest and prosperity: you are indeed the god of this World. When the day to day wears us down remind us of pleasures and joys. Help us recall the wonderful excesses that brought our lives into being and which sustain the human spirit during good times and bad. Without you, there would be no life and certainly little delight. Thank you, Ing-Frô, for the rushing life spirit and the eternal play of passions that make our lives fruitful. WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, ING-FRÔ, as we honor the Ing-Frô that resides in all of us!

Frouwa, most lovely of all goddesses; who could not love you? Women as their own inner glory and highest attainment as the self-made woman, men for your beauty, passion and strength. Praise to you for the gift of life, and for the love that makes life worth living. Remind us always that it is the strong who love the best and the most, and that only the mighty can truly be gentle. Fill our lives with passion and lust that we may live our lives to the fullest. WE GIVE YOU MOST A HEART-FELT HEIL, FROUWA, as we honor the Frouwa that resides in us all!
