7th Day of Yule – Remembering the Noble Virtue of Hospitality
The Noble Virtue of hospitality represents a special relationship between an invited guest and host, where the host provides the guest with necessary goodwill. Welcome guests into your house and your life as you can. In today’s world, we cannot trust everyone with whom we come in contact; however, we can exercise caution and be as welcoming as possible. When anyone is welcomed into your home, ensure they want for nothing. Lavish upon them food, drink and comfort. Equally, be a proper and respectful guest when welcomed. (C. Reimer/V. Elmersson)
Havamal 3
Fire is needful for someone who’s come in,
where is he going to sit?
Food and clothing are necessary for the man
Who’s journeyed over the mountains.

I honor you this day, and I honor every bit of you that resides in me.  I’m grateful for the strong German heritage you’ve provided. I look forward with eager anticipation to the great family reunion on the other side.  I offer you my undying love, honor, respect, and gratitude.

A twelfth one I sing, when I see through the brush
The hanged one swinging from the hemp;
He climbs down from the trunk, must tell me his tale
When I carve the Runes right.

God/dess Meditation: (alternate Wodanstag) Heimo, HEAR ME!  Gellanhorn’s god, son of nine mothers and whitest of all gods.  You’re the genetic link between the gods and humankind. From your home in Himilberg, your keen eyes and sharp ears guard Ensigart, the world of the gods. As you stand so alert for the approach of giants, remind us that we must also watch for our own encroaching evil. Let weakness, cowardice, lies and dishonor be barred from Ensiwëg, the Rainbow Bridge, leading to our heart’s abode. Be a model for vigilance, that we may rise to the best that is in us, and someday join the Noble Gods in their shining homes. WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, HEIMO, as we honor the Heimo that resides in us all!
