6th Day of Yule – Remembering the Noble Virtue of Fidelity
As a basic ethical principle, the Noble Virtue of fidelity is the quality of being faithful or loyal. Fidelity is a characteristic that is worthy of emulation. We must remain loyal to who and what we are. Those around us need to have the ability to take us at our word, and our word needs to be our bond. A handshake is all that should be required to seal the deal in any verbal, written or implied contractual obligation between individuals. The devotion to our deeds must be of the utmost importance (C.Reimer/V.Elmersson).

Havamal 44
You know, if you’ve a friend whom you really trust
And from whom you want nothing but good,
You should mix your soul with his and exchange gifts,
Go and see him often (Larrington pg.20).

I honor you this day, and I honor every bit of you that resides in me.  I’m grateful for the strong German heritage you’ve provided. I look forward with eager anticipation to the great family reunion on the other side.  I offer you my undying love, honor, respect, and gratitude.

Elder Rune: Gebo: The mystical union of gift and giver, repay gift for gift, generosity, a fair exchange between people or gods and the Luck that accompanies it; freely exchanged, obligations, contracts, relationships, sometimes sexual, sacrifice, and hospitality, do not take more than we are willing to give, the voluntary sacrifice of resources.

A third I take, when danger threatens,
To bind the enemies through magic:
Thus, I dull the steel of the furious opponent.
Like the staff, his sword does not cut anymore.

Interpretation: Gift for gift (Gebo) brings protection from danger (Thorn).
<>
1st check on all fur-kids: food, water, litterboxes, shelter.
<>
Outcome: NINE HOURS OF SLEEP?  WTF?  Two wakeups and a slow get up until 9am.
<>
Two slices of blueberry bread with butter for breakfast.
<>
I let Toby out into the front yard, but he showed absolutely no interest of doing anything.  I can only hope the Cosequin sees him thru to the new year when he can get a Veterinary appointment.
<>
Right before leaving for my nieces, I checked Fb to find a message from her saying, “Everybody is going to be out shooting guns today if you wanted to bring one of yours” to which I was glad to oblige with a 9mm Glock 17 and a Mossberg .22.
<>
As always, it was an excellent time at my niece’s.
My gifts to them:
*A REALLY cool Yule wreath for the house
Kaden:
*“So, You Want to Work with Animals”
*“I want to be a Veterinarian”
*“Scientific Explorer Veterinary Science Kids Scientific Experiment Kit”
*Sack of peanuts, candy apple and orange
Daltyn:
*“The Hidden Life of Wolves”
*Wolf Beaded Bookmark
*Sack of peanuts, candy apple and orange
Nephew’s family
Him and his wife:
*$25 Amazon gift card
Nephew’s Kids:
*Sack of peanuts + candy + apple + an orange + (2) $25 Amazon gift cards.
*SO, nephew and his family have $75 on Amazon gift cards.  They can either get something separate, or pool their money for a single gift for the family.
Niece’s/their gifts to me:
*Minnesota Vikings hard hat (for work)
*Season 2 of the Last Kingdom DVD
*” Beyond Good and Evil” Nietzsche
*” Vinland Saga; Book One” Makoto Yukimura (KD Kodansha Comics, 465 pgs.)
My Niece’s husband really does have a small shooting range dug out by the pond.  It was an excellent family time of shooting my 9mm, .22, and nephews .308.  At first, the .308 about sent me to my ass!  After that, I adjusted my stance and did well enough.
*Gebo/Thorn right here!
*Also, today being the 6th Day of Yule – Remembering the Noble Virtue of Fidelity, as I remain extremely faithful to them.  They are the only real family I have left.  I hope they realize how much I cherish them.  I have always been grateful how they have accepted me.
<>
An evening of less than exciting TV entertainment.
<>
Thus far, it’s been a pretty cool Yule.
<>
Last check on all fur-kids.
<>
1:30am nighty night.

God/dess Meditation: Wodan; Alle-Vater Gott!  Wandering god!  Rune god! Wolf god! Raven god! Wodan!! Husband to Frija, the Alle-Mutter.  Son to Paru and Bezzia, brother to Willo and Wîh; We call out to you, not as slaves or on bended knee, but on our feet and open-armed as befits your offspring. Watch us as we struggle, but the fight and fame must both be ours! Grant us that victory which we win by OUR might and mane! After a life battle-worn, Wodan, grant us access to our Great Ancestral Hall, where we may feast, drink the glorious mead and be merry with our heroes and our Altmâgâ. WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, Wodan, as we honor the Wodan that resides in us all!
