1.25 mile walk for Toby and me.  Occasionally I placed Toby on the retractable to keep him out of trouble.  However, one time, I no sooner took him off and he headed straight for the road.  Back on it he went, for a little while.  He finished the walk in fine fashion.

On April 9th I fell on some poorly maintained sidewalks around a church in the neighborhood.  The pastor of the church was so good about getting my info to the church’s insurance and the church’s insurance has been good about getting me set up, eventually, to pay my emergency medical bills if/and when the VA gets around to sending me the bill.  Now, the church has the sidewalks repaired around their building as needed.  I guess my comfort is that my fall brought to their attention the need for better maintenance of their sidewalks.

EVERY fur kid was in need of some kind of attention today.  Special attention paid to Socks who is always alone in his house with storms.

Oven Baked Beer (Turkey) Brats 
Ingredients: 1 bottle of beer (I prefer lagers for this recipe), 2 tablespoons minced garlic, 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning, 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a glass pan and cook at 425 degrees for 20 minutes, then flip brats over and cook for another 20 minutes.
Broil as necessary.
Sprinkle with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

It was a rainy and wonderful drive up north.  My first stop was in Lehigh where I honored Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt.  It was with great anticipation I entered the Alexanderwohl  Friedhof in Goessel.  I typically honored my sister, along with Grandma and Grandpa Reimer.  This was my first time to honor my Great-great Grandfather Peter Amos Reimer, Great-Great Grandparents David A. Schmidt and Maria Nachtigal.  All the time there Donar was letting me know I needed to get a move-on because he was on the way!  No sooner did I honor the last ancestor and the OMGs the rains came!  Once outside of Marion County things subsided a bit. It’s been a WONDERFUL time of honoring ancestors today and yesterday.

Haircut; do I even admit I got a Mohawk?  HAHAHAHAHA…

It has been an exciting first day of the Memorial Weekend!  Of course, the local graves were visited first.  After that, it was off to Medford.  It rained most all the way; that is, until I got closer to Medford.  Then the rain subsided.  I found the old Mennonite Cemetery easily enough because of a former trip.  Toby and I took a relief break prior to going into the cemetery.  You should have seen Toby.  When his paw first touched Oklahoma red clay soil, he kind of went, WTF is this?  It was forward to the cemetery.  I had another example of the hand of my Great-great Grandmother Agatha, or Granny Aggie as I have come to call her, guiding me.  I could have easily gotten stuck, and almost did, on one the dirt roads surrounding the cemetery.  It was as if Granny Aggie said, “Back up, you need to anyway” as my tires spun and spun in the red clay.  Nonetheless, they kept spinning and eventually got me out.  Thank you Granny Aggie.  I could almost see her doing a giddy dance when I arrived.  She’s FANTASTIC!
