Life is lived at such a price

Elder Rune: Gebo: The mystical union of gift and giver, repay gift for gift, generosity, a fair exchange between people or gods and the Luck that accompanies it; freely exchanged, obligations, contracts, relationships, sometimes sexual, sacrifice, and hospitality, do not take more than we are willing to give, the voluntary sacrifice of resources.

Havamal 154:
A tenth one I sing, when dangers at sea forces me

To protect my ship from the stormy waves;
The storm I calm down, no matter how billowing the sea,
And I cradle the waves to sleep.

Dangers calmed, protection, challenges eased, comfort/stillness, primal fire, nobles, destruction of physical darkness reborn into spiritual light, confidence, Ing-Frô, the Sun, the path to the Light, will, leadership, all that which is beautiful and Sun-like, change to good, virtues, honor, glory, rewarding work, completion, light, Divine spirit, power contained in light that washes away darkness, wisdom, beauty, virtue, trust, honor, fame, Rune of the initiate, Symbolism of the Lord of the Light-elves that returns home from darkness, Rune of peace and good seasons.
“Respect the primal fire” (List, 56).

Rune Lesson: It’s an amazing occurrence that happens when a gift is given.  Think about it.  As a kid, we all waited with breathless anticipation on the December holiday to open our presents.  The same thing on our birthdays.  Forget everything else, just let us at our gifts.  1 of 2 things happened.  Either we were truly elated at a great gift, or disappointed at a poor gift.  Unless there is malicious intent, gifts are generally good and erases all bad feelings
Havamal 44 says:
Know, if you have a friend
in whom you have faith,
and you wish to get something good from him,
you must share with his mind
and exchange gifts,
and go often to seek him out.

Or, perhaps Sheldon Cooper was right, “Penny, you’re not giving me a gift.  You’re creating an obligation.”

1st check on all fur-kids: food, water, litterboxes, shelter.
<>
Outcome: 8hrs of sleep, two wakeups, and really nice Lily loving.
<>
Immediately off to the VA.  WOW!  I had to go to THREE checkpoints before I could go in, and then there was only one entry point for the facility.  It truly was amazing!
*labs went well.
<>
1-egg open-faced breakfast sandwich with three pieces of turkey bacon with cheese.
<>
WOW!  Wifey came thru with some financial help.  Thank you, baby.  This will help.
<>
Bank; took Toby with me.  While waiting in the drive-thru, I once again called the K-State Veterinary college in Manhattan.  Today, after several attempts, Toby was actually placed on a list for them to call for an appointment with this whole COVID-19 shit subsides.  I was exceedingly grateful!
<>
Took Toby out for a 2-block trust/training walk.  Oh my…this was the most Toby-prancing I’ve seen from him since he’s gone blind.  He really is getting it that he has to stay on the sidewalk for his own safety.  I’ll let him wander a bit, but I always call him back.  We seemed to be working together better today.
*partly cloudy, mild, slight breeze.
<>
Homemade oven baked beer bräts with freshly steamed cabbage
<>
Call in from the VA; A1c is at 7, new Rx.  Cholesterol is too high, upped pravastatin. Otherwise “unremarkable”
<>
Unemployment debit card arrived.
<>
Bank; to pull money out of the unemployment debit card into my account.
<>
Okay, finances are better now.
<>
Tacked-up ceiling Styrofoam in Socks’ house.  THEN, I noticed a dead tree stump, stump, well, 6ft tree stump, is completely leaning against Socks’ house.  Call into bruzzer.  He’ll be over tomorrow.
<>
2 potato/kielbasa burritos, leftover cabbage on the side.
<>
2-hours of Ghost Whisperer on Start TV (OTA).
<>
Out for my own, late evening, 30min walk.
<>
Dark Shadows on the Decades Channel (OTA)
<>
Note to Self; Toby’s 11:45pm feeding and insulin.
<>
Last check on all fur-kids.
<>
Midnight nighty night

(alternate Manostag) Nirdu, brother-husband, to Nirda, parents of the Wanâ; Ing-Frô and the Frouwa, beloved god of harbors and seas close to land; help us to remember the cargoes of wealth that float to our doors daily from the wonderful Universe in which we live. Though our misfortunes may rise and fall like the tides, the chance of prosperity, like the eternal sea brimming with fish, is still there. Like the salt-sea spray, awaken us to the possibilities that surround us, so that our nets may be cast wide and return full of life’s gifts. WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, NIRDU, as we honor the Nirdu that resides in us all!

Nirda, sister-wife to Nirdu.  We give thanks to the Great Goddess Nirda, Goddess of the land, of soil, and growing things.  Goddess, too, of the scythe and of the sacrifice.  Beautiful and terrible.  Wise in Your power.  We praise you…HEIL NIRDA, Mother of the Wanâ, sister-wife to Nirdu.  WE GIVE YOU A MOST HEART-FELT HEIL, NIRDA, as we honor the Nirda that resides in us all!  HEIL NIRDA Divine Queen! HEIL!  HEIL! HEIL!
