Rune Lesson: LUCK, is a HUGE component to Heathen life. As is said in the 13th Warrior:
“Luck, often enough will save a man, if his courage holds.”
Luck is also known as Hamingja;
The fourth and final part of the Norse self that we’ll consider here is the hamingja (pronounced “HAHM-ing-ya”). The word is often used in an abstract sense to signify “luck,” [6] but the Norse understanding of luck is very different from our own. It just seems that luck is reborn within the family units time and time again. Luck also seems to be a part of Orlog, that which is the fixed part of life, and the loom, as compared to Wyrd, which is the ever-changing weave, for good or ill, within the loom. Orlog, like Luck, is fixed. Again, for good or ill, we are reborn with the luck that is handed down to us from our beloved Ancestors.
